If you or your child have been tested for dyslexia and you were believed to be dylexic with an above average IQ, the other group would be sever dyslexics (have extreme difficulty reading anything) you would be suitable for the Leonardo Eye Test

Once in a life time something is discovered that extends the boundary’s of knowledge and changes the world forever.

Those who see.

Those who see when they are shown.

Those who don’t see even when they are shown."

ARE YOU A RIGHT TO LEFT SCANNER?

Dyslexia in HE Talk taking place at Staffordshire University on Thurs 15th Oct at 2pm featuring "The primary cause of dyslexia" by Stanley Sutton in the Film Theatre (Situated on Staffordshire University's College Road campus) and current research by David Hillidge Bsc

UP DATED 18 MARCH 2011

A summary of the talk has been posted 9thMay 2010,

for those who where unable to attended.

Firstly I would like to thank Mr David Hillidge BSc for putting my research to the test at Staffordshire university in a controlled trial. He was the only person to come forward in response to a news paper article in The Market Drayton Advetiser with a genuine interest in finding the cause of dyslexia.

I contacted experts working in the field of dyslexia in some of the most prestigious universities in the UK and USA. only six replied, saying it was an interesting theory. Most agreed that right to left scanning was a factor but did not believe to could be the cause of dyslexia. There for they where unable to investigate or test my findings.

My name is Stanley Sutton, I am bilingual in Greek and English as my mother was Greek and am dyslexic in both, my daughter is also dyslexic. As a result of this I have carried out extensive research into this to try and help my daughter. I have found that the cause of dyslexia is a visual orientation problem.

Greek was originally written in a right to left direction. The first Greeks, who adapted the Phoenician alphabet, were right to left scanners, thus developed the Greek alphabet from the Phoenician alphabet. From 1000b.c. to around 850b.c. reading and writing was taught in a right to left direction. As more and more of the population started to read

and write four out of every five people complained that they could not read the text. To help these people to learn Greek, pallindromic letters were introduced into the Greek alphabet including ΑΔΗΘΙΛΜΞΟΠΤΥΦΧΨΩ

( there are 16 of 24 letters that are pallindromic in Greek). To accommodate left to right scanners boustrophedon was introduced alternating the direction of the text on each line, boustrophedon continued for over 300 years. Around 500b.c the majority of the population who had learnt to read and write were left to right scanners so the Greeks stopped writing in boustrophedon and reverted to text in a left to right format. Subsequent generations of right to left scanners would become dyslexic as a consequence of being asked to read left to right text.

This is the biggest discovery of the 21st century it throws new light on a period of Greek history that is generally known as the dark ages. The period between 1000 BC. and 750 BC. was a period of learning, education, innovation and invention and shows that the Greeks of that time were more advanced than is recognised today.

If you stop to consider for one moment that in the intervening 3000 years the best brains in the world have not been able to understand the process of learning to read and write, but is something the ancient Greek grasped immediately. The Greeks clearly understood that text is directional and understanding text is dependant on a persons orientation preference. The Etruscans, Latinos/ Romans and even the Phoenicians copied the Greeks by introducing Boustrophedon for written text as can be seen clearly in the historic evidence.

The work that went into developing the Greek alphabet was staggering and ground breaking. As they tried to alter the alphabet they found that some letters where

The way that Anglo Roman and Germanic languages developed means they are not optically correct when reversed as the letters are not pallindromic ( only 11 of 26 letters are pallindromic in English) and only Greek will reverse effectively. Given the time the Greeks invested in solving this problem it can not be improved on.

By reversing Greek text in a right to left direction the Greek children that are now dyslexia would not develop dyslexia but would instead learn to read and write normally and Greek is the way forward as this has already been shown in the past. The Greek alphabet is unique and what the ancient Greeks achieved in is pure genius.

Dave Hillidge BSc has carried out a trial at Staffordshire University and I believe has established, that there is an orientation preference within a given population. Ether left to right or right to left. The eye movements are subconscious and involuntary. He used 24 non dyslexics and 20 dyslexic people in the study, his findings show that there is an orientation preference that confirms my research. He is currently doing a post hoc analysis My findings and David Hillidge results of that trial results has know been made public on 15th October 2009. There is a false belief that my findings have not yet been tested to a proper scientific standard. This is not the case. Let me explain, this is an orientation preference, when reading horizontal text there are only two possibilities, left to right or right to left. By forcing children who have a right to left preference to read left to right text actually causes their dyslexia, this process is know as Pavlovien condition. Ivan Pavlov was a Russian scientist most famous for describing the psychological phenomenon referred to as a "conditioned response". Other research that you my wish to look at highlighting visual aspects which cause dyslexia are. Orten 1930 Newton 1970, Zangwill and Blackemore1962 Beaumont 1976,Thomson 1980. Wilitshire 1981 Pavlidis 1981 All this research is available to any expert that wishes to examine it.

For the parents of these children to discover that there child does not have a neurological deficit or a psychological condition will be a relief . It will be unacceptable to parents when they learn that their children have an orientation preference and the education system in the UK is not in a position to help their children. These children will be smarter than their peers because they will be able to process information much quicker and more diversely . I have put some videos on Youtube. Put in the following The Primary Cause for Dyslexia 1,2,3,-12 For more detailed information,

A right to left orientation preference not only explains all cases but it also explains why people reveres numbers and why people with dyslexia have difficulty reading music.

If you would like further information or if I can be of any assistance in any way please get in touch.

not visually acceptable so in 750BC they dropped all the these letters and introduced four new characters that form the last four letters of the Greek alphabet Φ Χ Ψ Ω, theses are all pallindromic. This breakthrough formed the current Greek alphabet. The letters then became visually correct for reading and spelling purposes in both a right to left and left to right direction (boustrophedon).- but it was only in capital letters as lower case letters were not introduced until around 750-800 AD.
